Anal Dilator: Uses and Benefits
An anal dilator is a medical device. It helps relieve pain from conditions such as hemorrhoids, sphincter hypertonia, anal fissures and fistulas, or strictures. It may be recommended by a surgeon during a convalescence period to relieve pain, but primarily to prevent the formation of strictures, which still affects a limited number of patients.
The advantages of this device are numerous. Although it serves the same purpose as the Vaseline rectal finger, it represents a more practical, safer, and more hygienic option. Unlike the finger, which has an irregular shape and ends in a nail, the anal dilator is designed for the sole purpose of penetrating the anal canal and making contact with painful or injured surfaces without the risk of causing unintentional injury. The anal dilator is, in fact, an accessory whose shape is devoid of roughness, but has a widened base that makes it easy to grasp and guide.
Cryothermal dilators and daily care
The cryothermic dilators we have developed have a distinctive, smooth shape. The plastic sheath that constitutes their protective shell contains a proprietary gel that allows for warm treatment (thermotherapy) or cold treatment (cryotherapy). This particularity is due to the properties of the gel contained in cryothermic dilators. Thermotherapy treatment is indicated in cases of hypertonia or painful spasms; cryotherapy treatment is preferred in the presence of anal bleeding.
