DilatorsDILATAN® PLUSare available in several sizes (18 mm, 20 mm, 23 mm, 27 mm and 30 mm) to adapt to the morphology of each patient and the severity of the pathology to be treated. The 18 mm and 20 mm formats are particularly recommended for women and children, while the larger sizes (up to 30 mm) are suitable for more advanced treatments.

They are indicated in many anal pathologies, including stenosis (whether cicatricial or idiopathic), sphincter hypertonia or spasms, acute or chronic anal fissures, essential proctalgia, painful hemorrhoids, as well as constipation secondary to hypertonia. They are also used as a preventative measure to avoid post-operative stenosis after surgery for hemorrhoids or fistulas, as well as in the management of actinic proctitis, often associated with anal stenosis.

Each dilator consists of a rigid plastic sheath with a widened base (disc type) for easy handling, and contains a thermo-accumulator gel. This gel allows dual use depending on needs: incryotherapy(cold ≥ 0 °C) to soothe pain and bleeding, or inthermotherapy(heat ≤ 50°C) to release muscle spasms and treat sphincter hypertonia.

Depending on the case, sizes 18, 20 and 23 mm are recommended for moderate hypertension, actinic proctitis or tight stenoses. Sizes 27 and 30 mm are recommended for severe spasms or chronic anal fissures.

For optimal effectiveness, it is recommended to use dilatorslukewarmin case of painful spasms andcoldin the presence of bleeding. In other situations, the application temperature remains at the discretion of the practitioner or the patient.
